The total weight of the motion rig is well over 100kg, and the rubber feet of the base are designed to prevent it from slipping. So moving the platform around once it is fully assembled would be pretty hard. I therefore built three of these contraptions that allow a wheel [1] to be extended, so that the platform can be relocated if necessary. The aluminium profile [2] has a 15mm hole drilled into it, which allows it to rotate around a spacer sleeve [3]. On the other side there is a clamping lever [4] that holds the wheel in place when it is extended. The black part is a piece of plywood that puts the wheel at the proper height.
The wheel is retracted ("gear up") in normal operation. Note how the rubber feet rest on the floor.
In the extended position ("gear down") the rubber feet are lifted from the floor and the platform can be moved freely.
View from above (retracted).
Using a furniture lifter to jack up the rig when extending/retracting the wheels.
