Full Motion Flight Simulation Platform
Flight simulator software
Any flight simulator that is capable of providing the current position and
orientation of the simulated aircraft in real time can be used. The software should also
be able to be used with a Head Mounted Display (HMD), like e.g. the VFX-1,
to give the pilot a fully immersed flying sensation. Microsoft's "FS5"
can be configured to provide continuous flight data output, but as far as
I know it can't follow HMD movements. Looking Glass Technology's
"Flight Unlimited II" works with the VFX-1, but I don't know whether
it also follows HMD movements. However, I don't yet know if FU-II is capable
of providing continuous flight data output. Inquiries at Looking Glass
have not been answered so far.
